M2H2 is a Value 4 Value music show where we automatically switch to the artists' wallet when playing their songs. Unless otherwise noted, 95% of all value sent during a time-split in a modern podcast app, or thought the Split Kit page, will be sent directly to the artist(s) of the song being played.
Throughout the episode, we explore the valueverse, a space where artists can thrive outside the traditional music industry by receiving direct support from listeners through streaming sats and boosts. Ainsley shares her success story, having earned over $13,000 in Bitcoin within a year and a half, compared to just $750 from traditional streaming platforms over five years.
We also feature music from other talented artists in the value verse, including Matt Johner, Moe & the ArtiFactz, and Joe Martin. Ainsley highlights her admiration for bands like Two Weeks in Nashville and The Trusted, expressing her desire to collaborate with them. The episode also includes a heartfelt discussion about Ainsley's signature track "Cherry On Top" and its impact on her career.
As we prepare for the upcoming Boostagram Ball Live event on December 16th in Austin, Texas, we encourage listeners to join the value 4 value movement and support artists directly. Tune in for a special Christmas edition of M2H2 on December 23rd, and keep the music alive by streaming sats and boosting your favorite tracks and artists.

It's a holiday vibe, and it's all thanks to you. So December 23rd, 8 PM, m two h two Christmas edition, Christmas special. We'll be going out live, and then we'll be putting it out into the value verse on our RSS feed right after that. We do have a very, very special guest with us on the show this evening. You heard her song, There Goes My, Open up the show. So I wanna welcome to the show, the queen of the value verse, Ainsley Costello. Ainsley,
[00:06:35] Ainsley Costello:
welcome here, and tell us a little bit about that track, There Goes My. Yeah. Absolutely. Well, thank you for having me on. I'm very excited to be here. There goes my is my bubblegum Carly Rae Jepsen fantasy song. It's, like, so out of the ordinary for me, but, you know, I think this is really reminiscent of you can tell what music I was listening to when I wrote this song. And it was I I love challenging myself. I love stepping outside of the box and writing things that you wouldn't really expect from me, And I've always just loved this style of music, and I think that it can be really overlooked, in a in a sense of people say that this kinda, like, really fun bubblegum stuff isn't good songwriting or isn't good that or whatever. But, you know, I am a really firm believer that a song doesn't have to be like Hallelujah or I Can't Make You Love Me to be a fantastic song. And I it's you know what's actually really funny about this song. So I'm a very hook oriented writer. Right. And I wrote this song with, 2 really awesome artists based here in Nashville, Brie Fletcher, who was on the last season of The Voice, and Sam Keiko, who was on the last season of American Idol. Nice. Very talented friends who I've just come to adore. It was my first time writing with them and I had just got this I'm actually sitting at it right now. I had graduated from college the year before and my my graduation present to myself was that I was gonna go find a a piano on Facebook Marketplace and that was gonna be it. And so I had just gotten this piano, and I really wanted to start writing on piano more because I've always really just written on guitar.
And I started playing those opening chords that you hear, very, like Teenage Wasteland, Baba O'Reilly, The Who kind of thing. Oh, yeah. And it actually started as a breakup song. That there goes my hook was originally, like, there goes the future in my head. There goes all that time I spent, like, trying to make this thing work. And, yeah, well, there goes a good thing. Like, okay. Fine. Let's back to square 1. Let's start over. And then I brought it in, and Sam just started producing around it. He made it so fun and so danceable. And Brie and I, who were really writing the lyrics, we just looked at each other, and we were like, this needs to be a love song. And so we just we tweaked what I already had, and then we
[00:08:48] Unknown:
wrote a couple of other verses. And it's truly just, like, one of my favorite songs in my discography. So thank you for loving it. Oh, yeah. I I love it. I've I've played it on the show multiple times. We're gonna dive in and get on to on through the value verse with our next track. We're gonna get one coming up now from Matt Jonner. Matt is the drummer in the Jonner boys. Awesome band. We've played them a couple times before. We've played Matt before, but this is a live recording of his track, Wonder Woman.
[00:09:22] Unknown:
You make me wonder. You make me lose my mind

I wanna sit on the moon with a telescope and watch you people like a TV show. And as the world turns, so will the channel. I've binge all night with a beer in hand along with a few of my best friends and during commercials, Advertising notions, we discuss new characters like self righteous critics. Comedy, drama, fantasy, we have it all. Action, horror, romance, we have a ball

[00:13:52] Unknown:
I, for 1, will give a standing ovation. I wanna never blink in an easy chair, moon dust sprinkled in my head and analyze the times. From a novel perspective, heroes and villains well. Aren't they subjective? Comedy, drama, fantasy, we have it all. Action or a romance, we have a ball. At curtain call, I for 1 will give a standing ovation. Space shuttles and stations. We've come pretty far, although far from perfect. We are who we are. Comedy, drama, fantasy, we have it all. Action, horror, romance, we have a ball. Advert and call, I, for 1, will give a standing ovation.
[00:17:37] Unknown:
I can do what you do. We'd let until the sun went down, run wild and free. You showed me how to fight. I will stand my groan, but there were days when I fell. And you went around

Big brother, baby brother.
[00:19:05] Unknown:
We walk through the fire. Big brother, baby brother. We lift each other still hear your voice when I start to stray through the distance in time. One thinks they true. Baby brother, I always need you. Our brothers need brothers.
[00:20:35] Unknown:
That was Moe and the artifacts with brother's keeper. If you're not familiar with Moe, check out Moe facts with Adam Curry. Great podcast. They ended their run. Adam talking with Moe about African American culture and trying to understand things. It was a fantastic show. They did a fantastic job, and Moe's done some great stuff. Throw out some music out there into the value verse. Before that, we had standing ovation from a gentleman I know very well, Garage t Rashington the 3rd, that's my cousin, here on m two h two.
Before we go into some more tracks, I do I do have some more questions for Ainsley as she's joined us here tonight. So, Ainsley, can you kinda maybe give us a little bit of insight into your origins
[00:21:21] Ainsley Costello:
of coming into this value verse. Yeah. I mean, it all started in July of 2023. I just, by chance, happened to stumble upon Wave Lake, which we all know and love Wave Lake. I put one song on Wave Lake, Cherry on Top, and it has completely just led to, you know, figuring out what Noster is and what value for value means, and then the greater kind of value verse. I you know, what really drew me to it is it's this feeling of everything that the traditional music industry is not. Oh my gosh. I cannot echo that sentiment any more than that. We had,
[00:21:55] Unknown:
Abel James and Susan Santo on the show last week, and they said pretty much the exact same thing. You know, you mentioned Cherry on Top there. We're gonna get to that in a little bit, but that's a track for folks to look forward to coming up here later in the show. You also you you kinda had the chance to set history, when you took part in the first ever livestreamed value for value concert. Can you maybe share a little bit about that?
[00:22:21] Ainsley Costello:
Yeah. It was, in Minneapolis at the iconic First Avenue. We played the 7th Street Entry, which is, like, the little kinda baby venue that's attached, to First Avenue. But, Mike or Open Mike, who is one of the biggest believers and advocates of value for value and Nostr and Bitcoin lightning enabled everything, you know, he was just such a proponent of getting me on that stage, and I'm so so grateful for it because it's led to, you know, me sitting here, like, talking to you being a week out from basically the year anniversary show of that where we're gonna be at another legendary stage, Antone's, in Austin,
[00:22:59] Unknown:
almost next week. Oh, yeah. December 16th. That's a Monday night. Adam Curry's boost a gram ball live at Antone's in Austin, Texas. If you can't be there in person like me, you can catch it streaming live in a modern podcast app. There will be video and audio. With the video, though, you'll be able to see some of the live elements that have been introduced and are set up based on the boosts that are coming in to the show. And and as a as a little side note of boosts, stick around for a little bit. We're gonna talk about some boosts and some streaming of sats that came in last week. So if you boosted or send some sats, you're gonna get your shout out here shortly or boost right now. Send something in right now. If you do it in the live show, you'll definitely get mentioned and you'll set off the helipad. The helipad will trigger a sound effect. You'll hear it live in the show if something has come in. Last question before we go into some more tracks here, Ainsley, and it's that, you know, you've been done by some people as the queen of the value verse, and you've been kind of the success story for other artists who want to join the value verse based on really how well it is that that you've done and how well you've performed with the tracks and things you've put out there. That would be correct.
[00:24:15] Ainsley Costello:
That it's, yeah, it's even an understatement. Like, so in 5 years on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, etcetera, I only made $750 on all of my streaming royalties. And then in a year and a half in the value verse, I've made over $13,000
[00:24:30] Unknown:
in Bitcoin. Holy crap. That's a lot. You know, we had Susan Santo just talk about being able to get a couple tanks of gas, but you've done really well. Ainsley, continue to hold on here. We're gonna get back to you in just a second. But first, we're gonna dive back into the value verse. We're gonna check out a track that's been out for a while from Joe Martin, and this is High
[00:28:34] Unknown:
Upbeatz is I love salty crayons. Upbeats is my favorite. It's like it's like the old pirate radio days.
[00:28:42] Unknown:
Hell, yeah. If you're tired of the same mainstream crap, whether they're just playing slave music all day, then come on over to Upbeat with me, Dalton Crayon, where I'm playing like the gen x kid I am, mixtape music. No genres here, just producers. And when you're not slaving away at your job, go ahead and put me on throughout your day. Hell, yeah. That's Uppies with Salty Crayon. It's a great name, buddy. Salty Crayon is a great DJ name. I love that.

If you must eat me, please swallow me whole. Don't bend me, don't break me, don't nibble me slow. If you must eat me, swallow me home. If you must drink me, don't leave me half full. The touch of your lips has taken its toll. If you must drink me, swallow me home. If you must have me, just take the full dose. I know you're afraid of losing control. If you can't leave me home, just leave me alone. If you must have me, swallow me home.
[00:30:21] Unknown:

[00:30:29] Unknown:
Swallow me whole.
[00:30:31] Unknown:
If you must love me, then make
[00:30:37] Unknown:
it home.
[00:30:40] Unknown:
That was Sarah Jade with Swallow Me Whole. We'll get back with our discussion with Ainsley here in just a second, but let's take a minute to thank some people who streamed some sats to us last week. We can start out with a user on fountain named fur to value. We can also thank friend of the show of the Dorfels, sir TJ the wrathful. And again, from the week we mentioned him last week, and he streamed us some sats again this week, and that is Odysee Westra. Thank you very much to the 3 of you for streaming sats, not just to the show, but to these artists in the value verse to show them that you support the music they're producing and putting out there for us.
Boostagrams from last week. Everybody loves boostagrams. We got one in from Abel James. He was a guest on the show, but he sent a 121 sats in, and that was for Suzanne Santos' song worried. And he just sent in 3 fire emojis because he said that song is on fire. Thank you, Abel. Appreciate that very, very much. The artist we just heard, Sarah Jade. Sarah sent in some boost last week. We had a 100 sats for heavy on me or for recovery by Ableton. She said listening on the road, love the show. Another 100 sats for we can all sing along, from, Ben P Williams there.
Another listening on the road, love the show. And then another 100 sats from Sarah that she sent in for Worried by Suzanne Santo where she said gorgeous. We also had a boost come in from Fur to Value. We mentioned him once, let's mention him again. And he said, love the that thing you do ISOs throughout the show, LOL. I just try to throw something interesting in, make things fun, make things exciting. We then had Heather Larson. If you've never heard of Heather Larson, Heather is a radio veteran. She also has a show here in the value verse, a v for v music show called Radio Detox. She sent in some boost. She sent us a 100 sats for is this it and said love this song, and then a 1,000 sats. Thank you very much, Heather. A 1,000 sats about the song worried from Suzanne Santo. And she said, Suzanne, I hope you play this live Monday night at Anton's in Austin. Remember, December 16th, that evening, that Monday night at Anton's in Austin, Texas, Adam Curry's BoosterGram Ball live. If you can't be there in person, check it out online through one of the modern podcast apps. You can catch the live performances by artists taking part in that show. Artists like Susan Santo, Abel James, Ainsley Costello, FM Rodeo, all kinds of artists will be there performing just loud. There's another one who will be taking part in that show live on that night.
Let's get back to Ainsley. Ainsley, you've got some great tracks out in the value verse. We've heard one already this evening, and that was There Goes My. But I wanna hear the story behind the track you put out there called people pleaser?
[00:33:36] Ainsley Costello:
Oh, I think it's a culmination of a lot of things. I think, you know, I in the beginning of last year, I started regularly going to therapy, and I got through about 2 or 3 sessions before my therapist looked me in the eye. And she was like, Ainsley, have you ever heard what the term people pleaser is? And I was like, okay. Guess we need to work on some stuff. But, it was, you know, I think it's inspired by friendships, familial relationships, being in the music industry, always kind of whenever a problem arises or occurred in a relationship, always kind of going back to myself first is, oh, well, I did something wrong. I'm the one who's not doing x y z, who wasn't doing this thing good enough. And then, you know, having to zoom out a little bit and being like, wait a minute. No. Why first, why is it your your first instinct to blame yourself when something goes wrong?
And, yeah, you know, it was just one of those. I I brought the idea into 2 of my friends, Christian Harger, who actually produced Terry On Top and he produced this song, and Nathan Dose, who I wrote People Pleaser With. And, you know, I was right in the thick of, like, being in therapy for the first time and and really working out what all of that meant to me. Mhmm. And, then, you know, a couple hours later, we're massaging the idea. And I love how we kinda snuck in that innuendo of, if you're gonna be with me, please me in this kind of, you know, taking back this, like, female power sort of thing because I think that's a big thing in a lot of romantic relationships. You know, women can tend to put themselves on the back burner or throw themselves under the bus to avoid conflict. Mhmm. And so it's kind of this, like, reclaiming of hold on. I'm not always the problem. When I am the problem, I can take accountability for that. But also, like, I you need to please me just as much as I've been pleasing you.
[00:35:25] Unknown:
Yeah. I can't agree more, so let's take it out. People Pleaser from our guest, Aynsley Costello.
[00:35:35] Unknown:
If it was what you liked, I'd do it. Even if I wasn't into it. I'm not proud of it. Never know how to get out of it, so I've been as gamma therapists.
[00:37:48] Unknown:
That was awesome, Ainsley. So you and I have chatted back and forth while the songs and stuff have been playing throughout the show, and we talked about some of the artists that that you enjoy listening to from the value verse. And one of them that came up was, as the kids call them, and I'm not one of the kids, you are twin. 2 weeks in Nashville. Specifically, you you mentioned the song, don't take this for granted. What is it about that particular song, that track from 2 weeks in Nashville that had you gravitating toward them?
[00:38:22] Ainsley Costello:
Yeah. I mean, I've been listening to Twin, the 2 weeks guys, ever since they popped onto the v for v, like, wave lake fountain scene. And I just think, you know, truly, I I love using whenever I go into the studio and I'm working with a producer, I'm, like, totally, like, type a overprepared. I have, like, reference playlists and reference songs for every song that I go in and I work up. And when I heard 2 Weeks in Nashville, I was like, oh, my gosh. I feel like these guys could be a new reference band for me. Like, they just are going after so many of the tones that I love and that invoke a ton of nostalgia in me. And I also just think, you know, even though they're from the other side of the pond, they really invoke the Nashville songwriting storytelling thing, which I love and it's such a skill and it's it's not easy to do with somebody who's spent 5 years in the Nashville scene kind of working around that and figuring out how that whole thing works. And I just think they're fantastic songwriters, fantastic musicians, and I'm really excited for the day that I get to meet them in person.
[00:39:47] Unknown:
She drives around in a Mercedes Benz. She's got much more money than common sense. She looks back with a win in her hair. You know she blow your mind if she runs away with your love. Off. You better guide, you hope she'll be back. You don't know what you have until it's gone.
[00:41:10] Unknown:
Don't know.
[00:41:14] Unknown:
You know that life must go on even though she was the one. Don't walk before you can run. Why? You get why you deserve. We lose more than we earn,
[00:41:32] Unknown:
but we learn and move on. Oh, boy.
[00:42:25] Unknown:
Don't take this for granted from 2 weeks in Nashville. You also mentioned Ainsley that that you had a admiration for another value verse artist, and that was the trusted. What is it specifically about the track you said to me, Terrible Fight? What is it about that track that just made you fall in love with it?
[00:42:49] Ainsley Costello:
Yeah, this one is just another You know, I have I love listening to artists and being friends with artists who I'm genuinely really inspired by. You know, I haven't met either of the twin guys or the trusted guys in person, but you know, we've had really lovely just interactions on social media, some DMs and stuff happening. Also, I'm just gonna put it out there, the trusted, if you ever want to write a song together or put anything out together or if you just need me to come and sing backup vocals or if you need me to just, like, bring out some pom poms and cheer you guys on, Truly, like, I hit me up. I am so here and I'm so ready for that. You know, they're just another one that I really appreciate their musicianship.
Really just smart, also very London English lyrics. Mhmm. And yeah, I just I've had a lot of conversations with a lot of my friends about this, but when I'm I have a hard time being friends with people who, like, I don't really genuinely enjoy, and I'm a fan of their music. And with both of these artists and bands, I just I'm such a fan of them. If I wasn't doing what I was doing, if I wasn't a singer songwriter themselves, I still would have found their music and been like, oh my god, who are these guys? I wanna follow them for the rest of my life.
[00:47:19] Unknown:
That was the trusted with terrible fight. Another great pick by our guest, Ainsley Costello. Ainsley, I know that cherry on top, that is become your signature track in the value verse. I believe it's the first track in the value verse. Actually, I know it's the first track in the value verse that hit 1,000,000 sats from listeners. And you've talked about that. You've talked about that success, but share with us some of the backstory on how you wrote that song.
[00:47:53] Ainsley Costello:
Yeah. I mean, I'm excited that I have the opportunity to tell the story because I've I've talked so much about, you know, what Cherry on Top did for me in the value verse, but I don't know if I've ever told the story in this space of, like, what actually inspired that song. So I a lot of people hear that song and they think it's a breakup song. Mhmm. And to an extent, it is, but it's about a friend who I had a nasty breakup with. It's not a romantic breakup. It's not anything of that kind of sort. But, you know, I just I was in a relationship, a friendship relationship for someone for a while, and, you know, they'd kept doing a couple of things that, like, were giving me some red flags and, like, didn't really feel great, but me being a people pleaser, callback to earlier, callback to another song. Yeah.
I was like, you know what? It's just me. I'm the one who's, like, making this the problem. No. That wasn't what it was. It's one of those, like, hindsight is 5050 or 20 20 things. I don't know what the phrase is. But, yeah. Then, you know, at the end of their relationship, it just got really ugly and it got really nasty, and I remember sitting on the couch talking talking it through with my parents and literally saying out loud, oh, well that's the cherry on top of the mess that I made. And I was like, oh, let me write that down in my notes. Okay. Back to the task at hand. And then, you know, I had that written down in my phone notes for a couple of days and it was around the holidays. It was, like, right around this time, 2 years ago that I wrote this song. Or actually, no, 3 years ago. It came out 2 years ago.
It was right around Christmas time, so I think my parents were out shopping, and I was home alone by myself, and I picked up my ukulele because I realized I hadn't written on ukulele in a while, and cherry on top just kinda fell out of me as a lot of as it goes along with the time. Yeah.

You put the cheerios up for the mess you made, but I'll leave it out in the garage. I'm that you aren't used to having it all given back to you. And there might be something to see if he's ratting and cry like a little boy. You might deserve it, but Oh, my, my little country girl, not into the wind. Oh, my, my little country girl, my head's been hit. You were born to see the world me all the wild boogie on earth. You were made a There's a girl inside you, and she's allowing to be free.

[00:58:18] Ainsley Costello:
Yeah. So this next song is by some random artist. I don't I don't know him very well, by the name of Jim Costello. This is one of the songs on his album, Light Switch, Love Me Like Before. And it's, you know, it's just one of those songs that I've grown up listening to. You know, the Light Switch album is, like, just iconic in my family, truly. Like, you know, if you've seen the the cover art for that album, it's, reminiscent of a very famous painting. I don't remember what the name of it is, but, you know, like, my grandma one time got my dad's socks with the picture of that painting on it. And it's like, I remember when I got a CD player in middle school, I brought Light Switch up to my room and I listened to it while I was cleaning. And, Yeah. I just I I think this this random artist, he's pretty cool. So check him out. This is Jim Costello with Love Me Like Before.

I can't seem to reach you. I can't seem to get through to you when you won't open your door. The past few months have been like hell for me, and I just need somewhere to hide. Where can I go if you're the only one I have? You don't wanna be by my side. I'm giving all I can give. You got my tone down inside. Well, I want you to help me to live. I want you to take me in yours and hold me like me for Tell me nothing's wrong. Well, I know the times have been hard on both of us. I know I had have been like hell for me, and I just need somewhere to hide. But where can I go if you're the only one I have?

But it's from an artist named Alicia Stockman.
And that track, coming up right now is called another breakup song.
[01:07:51] Unknown:
Another fight ending in tears. Hard to know where we go from here. Are we both procrastinating? Is there something here we're saving you? Starting half of my songs from the lonely ballads to the happy ones. I don't know how the next one goes, one thing is for sure. I don't wanna write another another breakup song. Baby, I wanna hold on to you. You know a good thing when I see it, so we might as well see this through. How about a love song every 3 of the week? Alright. I want you to be my last first kiss. Even if I know there could never not be this silence between us. Us. Still, I can't get enough of your race, class, and gender. I love girl. You're all lovely above. Baby, you've got it all. That was so intersectional from Hey Citizen. You may recognize the name. Hey Citizen is the one who put out the parody of the Dorfel's track, Bloodshot Lies, called pork chops fried, and it's done really well in the value verse. And that's a new one that hey, citizen has put out there. Before that, we had happiness shines in my soul by Mike Capasso. I've played that on the show before. And an older track to the value verse, but one that fits considering what it is that we do, and that was Vertigo Kid with pirate radio. Again, another huge shout out to Ainsley Costello for joining us on the show and taking part in the conversation this evening and playing some tracks that she really loved here on the show. Another reminder of boostagram ball live, Adam Curry's boostagram ball live, December 16th, Austin, Texas at Antones.

Another reminder that on the week of Christmas, we'll be live on Monday, not Tuesday, December 23rd at 8 PM for a special Christmas edition of m two h two. And here's another little teaser about it again. M two h two, let's raise a cheer.
